Obituary of Beverly Du Boff

Beverly Rochelle Du Boff, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed from this life on November 3, 2024, at the age of 85 years old. She was born on February 6, 1939, in Newark, New Jersey to parents David and Rose Berney. She lost her mother when she was only 13, and her father re-married Ruth. She married Eugene Alan Du Boff and together they had two daughters, Robyn Allison and Lara Michelle.

Beverly, known to most who knew her as Bev, was a proud member of the Jewish community, and long-time resident of Denver and Golden (Genesee). She grew up in New Jersey and left to attend the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan. There, she met her beloved beshert, Eugene (Gene) and they built their lives together.

Bev always had a passion for helping and nurturing, and she began her career as an elementary school teacher. She had a sense of adventure too and she found that in Gene. Nowhere was that more evident than when she joined him as he entered the Air Force and together, they traveled the world.

Bev lived a life filled with passion, strength, love of nature, and unwavering compassion for all who knew her. She always championed her family and loved them with the fierceness in her heart.  She was a loving and devoted wife to Gene for 64 years, and she was a friend and confidante to her two daughters. When her grandson, Elijah (Eli), entered her world, she reflected all his potential and beauty.  Her laughter was infectious, and her smile could light up a room. She was thoughtful and kind, and she poured her love and care into each relationship.

Bev dedicated herself not only to her family but also to the nature around her and her community. She loved birds and appreciated the beauty of nature. It brought her great joy just to spend a part of each day tending to the gentle world she created out on her deck.  Bev was also civic minded and engaged in social justice. Standing up for important causes and “doing the right thing” were important to her. Her legacy of kindness and commitment to helping others will live on in all the lives she touched, and she truly made the world a better place, just by being in it.

Beverly is survived by her husband, Eugene Du Boff; her daughter Robyn Du Boff and her wife, Hepsi Barnett, and her daughter Lara Du Boff Mellette and her partner Vincent Frank; her Grandson, Elijah Osage Du Boff; her siblings, Jody Berney, Muriel Williams, Andrew Berney, Carol Berney. She was preceded in death by her parents Rose Berney, and David and Ruth Berney, and her older brother Arthur Berney.

Bev was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and a great friend to many. The world is a poorer place without her light and the love she showed us all. She lives on in our hearts, and the hearts of all those who loved her.

A service to honor and celebrate Beverly’s life will be held on November 6, 2024, 10:00 am, at Temple Emanuel in Denver; livestream on the Feldman Mortuary YouTube channel. Interment to follow at Emanuel Cemetery.

May her memory forever be a blessing.
