Obituary of Stanley Debber

Stanley L. Debber, passed away on the 1st day of Rosh Hashanah, October 3, 2024. He was born on March 15, 1935, to Martin and Anne Debber, z”l.  He grew up on the westside of Denver where he graduated from North High School. Stanley enlisted in the US army in his early 20’s and was stationed in Potier France, where he became the assistant to the Jewish Chaplin.  After his service he returned to Denver; a couple of years later he moved to Raton, NM where he worked for the Rubin family at Rubin’s General Store.  They introduced Stan to his future wife, Ruth Ostrower. They were married June 1967, settled in Albuquerque where their son Max was born.  Stan went back to school and graduated from the University of New Mexico with a degree in Political Science. He was employed by the United States Department of Defense which eventually relocated the family to Phoenix.  Stanley and Ruth were happily married 38 years until her passing November 2005. Stan and his son Max were involved with the Arizona Ballooning Club and every weekend for years they “chased” balloons, helped to steady and bring down the baskets.

Several years after Ruth’s passing Stanley met Sunnie Saperstein and together, they loved to cruise and traveled the world.  Stanley eventually moved to Sun City Grand where he was involved with their community theatre and enjoyed playing Pickel Ball several times a week.  Just recently, Stan moved to Vail, AZ to live out his retirement years.

Stanley is survived by his son Max (Lettie) Debber, his sister, Joyce Perlmutter, grandchildren Makenzie and Jack, uncle to Nanci Perlmutter, Marty (Mary) Perlmutter and Morey (Kara) Perlmutter.
