Obituary of Paul R. Rosen

Paul R. Rosen, M.D.,Col. US Air Force, US Army Retired was born in the Bronx, NY and attended the Bronx High School of Science where he met his wife, Harriet. He was an alumnus of Union College, Schenectady NY where he funded an endowment for under-represented students and a Great Room at the Union Chabad. He was an alumnus of Albert Einstein Medical College and Columbia University School of Public Health. He was a volunteer at two Native American Reservations as a primary care provider, and an active teacher of wilderness medicine and first aid for numerous outdoor organizations. He was a Surveyor for the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and consulted with numerous Hospitals and Healthcare Organizations, as well as with the Government of Zambia and USAID. He had a 22-year career as a military physician, in direct patient care in Pediatrics and Aerospace Medicine. He held administrative and command positions at numerous military posts as well as numerous hospital, faculty and teaching positions at Harvard (Children’s Hospital) and in Colorado, Texas and New York. After retirement from the military in Denver he was an active member and leader with the Colorado Mountain Club and Big City Mountaineers. He was an active volunteer with the Department of Paleontology of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science and helped found the Teen Science Scholar program at DMNS.

 

Paul is survived by his wife Harriet, his children Amy Silverstein (Ross) and his son Mark Rosen (Ercy), grandchildren Ariel and Zarah Rosen, and Ezekiel, Danielle, Naomi and Rachel Silverstein. Graveside service, Monday, 10:00 AM, Emanuel Cemetery.
